Betty Staley acknowledged for her fine book, "Tending the Spark" October 01 2020

The Northern California Publishers and Authors have awarded Tending the Spark, Lighting the Future for Middle School Students by Betty Staley a well-deserved Gold Award for General Non-Fiction. This wonder of a book gives deep insight from Betty’s decades of teaching experience, lending support and good practices to teachers and parents for shepherding our young through the turbulent pre-teens and early teens. This recognition of Betty’s book is very satisfying.  She draws attention to the tender souls in these very young pre-adults — and having this consciousness recognized means a great deal!

Betty  Staley is delighted to be so recognized, of course. She received her award remotely, but her picture demonstrates her real joy at being selected. We share that joy and hope that everyone reads her book. The understanding of youngsters at the vulnerable ages between childhood and full-on adolescence is extraordinary and thorough in her writing. Also, the personality of the author, full of twinkle and appreciation for the young, shines through.

We celebrate Betty’s triumph and look forward to increasing acknowledgement of this fine achievement!
