Author of the Month - October October 20 2026

Gary Lamb has devoted a lifetime to the study and practice of Rudolf Steiner’s Threefold Social Ideals. In his career, this devoted study has overlapped considerably with Waldorf education and has led to his belief that all education should be freed from government control. Early in his career, he worked in research and production at Weleda, followed by a management role at Hawthorne Valley’s Farm Store, and then development work at the Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School.
As a Waldorf parent, grandparent, teacher, and employee, he learned deeply about the burdensome tuition that prohibits many from attending independent schools. He worked diligently on finding different funding sources to relieve the school’s dependence on tuition alone, while remaining free from governmental requirements that curtail creativity and the freedom of teachers. This led to his founding of the “Hope through Education” program, one of the first privately founded tuition tax credit programs in the United States.
Gary Lamb and Joel Kobran, another lifelong student of Threefold principles, started the Threefold Review in the late 1980s. Gary was both editor and essayist for this remarkable publication. For many throughout the movement and beyond, this became a font of deeply considered, interesting, sometimes funny, facts about Threefolding.
Gary has published three books with Waldorf Publications: The Social Mission of Waldorf Education; Associative Economics; and Wellsprings of the Spirit. He has also published several other books with other publishers: The Road to Sacred Technology, volumes I & II; and On the Wings of Words.
Waldorf Publications is delighted to honor Gary Lamb during the month of October! His contribution to Waldorf education through his deep study of Anthroposophy and the practical application of Threefold Social strategies is substantial and gathered in his books!
