In Waldorf schools, teachers and students love making music with recorders! This is passion assists Waldorf class teachers as it gives everyone the opportunity to play during main lesson, and livens up the mornings with bright and beautiful music—by an orchestra of recorders.
Waldorf Publications is pleased and proud to announce the publication of the final two books that constitute the last in the series written and curated by David Gable, Play! Recorders in the Classroom, Grades 6, 7, 8; Play Like a Morning Star. This marks volume five, for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders.
Volume two is for fourth-grade curriculum and, like all our volumes, includes a book for teachers to help students learn increasing skills on the soprano recorder and learn themselves as they go and practice along, and includes music and fingering charts to support the fourth-grade curriculum.
For each grade level: a book for the teacher, and a book for the student, reflecting the curriculum, through grade eight. For fifth grade, volume three, instructions are provided for introducing the alto recorder. By seventh and eighth grades, the tenor and bass recorders are introduced and included in the pieces collected for recorder ensemble.
It is a real joy to hear a class play the recorder together well. Hospice attendants report that a most frequently articulated last wish of the dying is that they never had the chance to learn to play a musical instrument in their lifetime. Here, for both teacher and student, that regret can be eliminated with marvelous collections of music to support the development of skill! Hooray for music, hooray for recorders, hooray for David Gable! The Library Lady Salutes him!
